A Dominican national, Salvador Reynoso-Perez, 38, has admitted guilt in a case of illegal reentry into the United States following deportation. The plea was entered before U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs, who set the sentencing date for March 25, 2025.
Reynoso-Perez faced an indictment in November 2024 after being deported twice previously from the U.S., with his last removal occurring on March 16, 2021. Despite this, he unlawfully returned to the country at some point thereafter. His presence was detected by immigration authorities on September 17, 2024, while he was serving a state sentence that included charges related to possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance.
The legal charge against Reynoso-Perez could lead to a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison, accompanied by three years of supervised release and a fine reaching $250,000. Federal district court judges impose sentences based on guidelines and statutes governing criminal cases.
The announcement came from United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy alongside Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director for Boston's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Sullivan from the Major Crimes Unit.
