Holland & Knight has strengthened its Intellectual Property Group with the addition of Ken Chang as a partner in Denver. Mr. Chang was previously a partner with Quarles & Brady.
Mr. Chang is the third partner to join Holland & Knight's Intellectual Property (IP) practice in recent months. Partners Kris Reed and Ted Mayle joined the firm in October from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton. Mr. Chang and Mr. Reed previously worked together at Kilpatrick, where Mr. Chang founded the firm's Shanghai office and both served as managing partners before returning to the United States.
"Ken's experience with intellectual property negotiations and disputes over a wide range of industries will be a significant benefit to our clients," said David Donoghue, leader of the firm's Intellectual Property Group. "His focus on complex international IP issues in the Asia-Pacific region for the past 20 years will offer important insights on navigating the evolving global market."
Mr. Chang concentrates his practice on overseas IP issues, with a focus on Asia. He addresses areas such as cross-border transactions, IP licensing and disputes, monetization and overseas IP enforcement (particularly in China). His practice covers various industries, including biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device, semiconductor, consumer electronics, textiles and design services.
"Holland & Knight's commitment to growing its IP practice is exciting and serves as the perfect opportunity for me to grow my practice," Mr. Chang said. "In addition, I'm thrilled to be working closely with Kris again to strengthen the IP team while taking full advantage of the firm's impressive international platform."
Mr. Chang earned a J.D. degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, an M.S. degree in physiology from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a B.A. degree from Trinity University.
