San’Drevious Jerome Lane, a 23-year-old resident of Sanford, has entered a guilty plea to charges related to firearms possession during a drug trafficking crime and distributing narcotics near a playground. This announcement was made by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Lane is facing a potential prison sentence ranging from six years to life, with his sentencing set for March 13, 2025.

Court records indicate that Lane had prior felony convictions in 2022 and was released from the Florida Department of Corrections on April 3, 2024. He was involved in cocaine distribution in Sanford on May 21, 2024, during which he carried a firearm. Law enforcement discovered two fingerprints on the firearm, one of which belonged to Lane. As per federal law, convicted felons are prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Additionally, Lane conducted another cocaine sale on June 3, 2024, approximately 800 feet away from a playground.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Adam J. Nate is leading the prosecution.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021. This strategy emphasizes building trust within communities, supporting organizations that work to prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
