Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell has released a statement following the 2024 Presidential Election results. In her message, she acknowledged Donald Trump as the President-elect and emphasized the importance of respecting democratic principles.

"Donald Trump is our President-elect, and I want to remind constituents that it is essential to recognize the will of the people and support a peaceful transition of power as these are central and non-negotiable tenets to being a democracy," Campbell stated. She further noted, "I am also clear-eyed that President-elect Trump has told us exactly what he intends to do as President, and that we need to believe him and to be ready for the challenges ahead."

Campbell highlighted the role of attorneys general across the nation in safeguarding fundamental rights. "Across the country, attorneys general will be on the front lines to protect our fundamental rights and freedoms, and Massachusetts will continue to be a beacon of light and hope," she affirmed. She assured that her office is prepared for any potential threats residents may face.

In preparation for possible challenges under Trump's administration, Campbell's office has been proactive in identifying prospective threats and developing mitigation strategies. These include potential legal actions such as lawsuits against the administration or interventions in pending cases.

The Attorney General's office plans to focus on various critical areas including rule of law, political violence, hate and discrimination, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, immigrants' rights, racial justice, environmental justice, health care, education including student loan programs, gun violence prevention, and federal benefits programs.
