Robert Micco Harjo, a 30-year-old resident of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. This sentence follows an investigation conducted by the Stilwell Police Department in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Harjo pleaded guilty on June 4, 2024. The case dates back to December 3, 2023, when law enforcement found him with a .22 caliber revolver and over 100 rounds of .22 ammunition. At the time, Harjo was aware that he had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.
The prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a national initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through community cooperation and strategic law enforcement efforts. The project emphasizes building trust within communities and supporting organizations that prevent violence.
The hearing was overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Following his state sentence, Harjo will be transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to serve his federal sentence without parole at a designated Bureau of Prisons facility.
The United States was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patrick Flanigan and Edith Singer.
