A former employee of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Ryan Ramos, has been sentenced to 210 months in prison for crimes related to child pornography. Ramos, aged 38 and a resident of Columbus, Ohio, was convicted on charges of distributing and receiving child pornography as well as possessing such material.
Ramos had accumulated over 42,000 images and approximately 8,500 videos depicting child sexual abuse. Authorities have identified more than 700 victims in connection with this case. Ramos was employed at Nationwide Children’s Hospital from 2018 until 2020 before moving to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he worked in the ICU burn trauma unit until 2023.
The investigation into Ramos began in 2020 when the FBI's Brooklyn-Queens office discovered his involvement in a Signal app group that exchanged child pornography. Ramos shared numerous images and videos of child sexual abuse within this group.
Further investigations revealed that in 2018, Ramos paid a known sexual offender in New York City for child pornography. He transferred over $500 via PayPal to obtain the illicit material. Additionally, Ramos's iPhone contained more than 346,000 messages across platforms like Signal and Telegram where he discussed or distributed child pornography.
