The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation is currently investigating an officer-involved death that took place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The incident occurred on the evening of December 10, 2024.

At around 11:10 p.m., police officers from Oshkosh responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing near the 400 block of W 10th Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a victim outside who had been stabbed. Inside the residence, officers encountered an armed individual with a bladed weapon. The subject did not comply with orders to drop the weapon, prompting one officer to discharge their firearm, hitting the subject. While lifesaving measures were being administered by officers, another stabbing victim was discovered inside the home. All individuals involved—the two victims and the subject—were taken to a local hospital where the subject was pronounced dead.

In line with agency policies, the law enforcement officers involved have been placed on administrative leave. Body cameras worn by these officers recorded the incident.

The DCI is leading this investigation with support from a DCI Crime Response Specialist, the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory, and the Wisconsin State Patrol. All law enforcement personnel involved are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

The DCI will continue reviewing evidence and gathering facts related to this case. Once complete, investigative reports will be submitted to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s office for further action.
