The District Court in Prince George's County is set to host an educational program aimed at high school students. This initiative, known as the Schools in Court program, seeks to educate students on the consequences of everyday decisions through interactive sessions. A highlight of the program includes a mock traffic stop, designed to demonstrate the legal implications of poor choices.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with various legal professionals such as police officers, K-9 officers, commissioners, assistant public defenders, assistant state’s attorneys, bailiffs, clerks, and judges. The program also addresses critical issues like the dangers of fentanyl and its effects on young brains.
Students will engage directly with judges and court personnel during a question-and-answer session focused on judiciary processes. Administrative Judge Lisa Hall Johnson from Prince George’s County District Court and Judge Cheri Simpkins from Prince George’s County Circuit Court will preside over this event.
The Schools in Court program is scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 9 a.m., located in Courtroom 357 of the Bourne Wing at Prince George’s County District Court in Upper Marlboro.
