Orange County man receives lengthy sentence for drug trafficking offenses

Attorneys & Judges

U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced Joshua Grant Cobb, a 34-year-old resident of Orlando, to 25 years in federal prison. The sentencing follows Cobb's guilty plea on July 31, 2024, for possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Court documents reveal that Cobb was identified as a distributor of methamphetamine and heroin/fentanyl. He allegedly used his residence to facilitate drug deals. Law enforcement arranged a controlled purchase using a confidential source at Cobb's residence. During this operation, Cobb was detained while leaving his home for the transaction. Authorities found him carrying a loaded firearm and 55 grams of fentanyl mixture.

A search warrant executed at Cobb’s residence led agents to discover over 700 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 350 grams of fentanyl mixtures, $4,000 in cash, drug processing materials and equipment, along with six additional loaded firearms.

Cobb has been ordered to forfeit the firearms and ammunition he possessed.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by uniting law enforcement agencies and communities they serve. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a strategy strengthening PSN with core principles including fostering community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
