U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Pitlyk has sentenced a man to 152 months in prison for selling methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on Friday.
In February 2023, officers from the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force received information that Johnny O. Morrow was involved in selling methamphetamine. Officers conducted two purchases totaling 22 grams of meth from Morrow at his residence in Fisk, Missouri, located in Butler County. When officers arrived with a court-approved search warrant for Morrow's home, he attempted to flee but was apprehended and detained on the premises. After being informed of the search warrant, an officer reported hearing Morrow make multiple statements about killing whoever had informed on him.
During the search, officers discovered a pill bottle containing eight bags of meth packaged for delivery, totaling approximately 31.6 grams; another pill bottle with approximately 64.78 grams of meth; and a bag containing approximately 52.97 grams of meth hidden in a jacket. After being read his Miranda rights, Morrow admitted that all the drugs were his.
Morrow, aged 54 and from Steele, Missouri, pleaded guilty in June at the U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
The investigation was carried out by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force and the Butler County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Timothy Willis and Christopher Shelton prosecuted the case.
