For those assigned recording duties, AAERT (American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers) CER certification is necessary or must be obtained within six months of job entry. Comparable certifications from other state or federal courts may substitute for AAERT certification.

The position requires knowledge of constitutional laws, statutory law, court procedures, evidence rules, civil procedures, criminal procedures, appellate procedures as well as skills in organizing work priorities and conducting legal research using resources like Westlaw or Lexis Nexis.
