Drummond supports Pam Bondi's nomination for U.S. attorney general

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has expressed support for the nomination of Pam Bondi as U.S. Attorney General. He, along with a group of 30 current and future state attorneys general, sent a letter to Senate leaders urging swift confirmation of Bondi, who is President-Elect Trump's nominee.

"Pam Bondi has proven herself to be an exceptional legal mind and a dedicated public servant," stated Drummond. "Her track record demonstrates her ability to tackle complex challenges head-on, from combating the opioid crisis to fighting human trafficking. Her commitment to justice makes her an outstanding choice for U.S. Attorney General."

The coalition addressed their letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Minority Whip John Thune. They highlighted Bondi's qualifications: “Many of us have worked with Attorney General Bondi, and we have witnessed firsthand her legal acumen, her passion for justice, and her steadfast commitment to the rule of law. And equally as important, we have found her to be fair-minded, impartial and collegial. In short, she is a superb choice to serve our nation and the public interest.”

Bondi's accomplishments as Florida Attorney General were emphasized in the letter. It noted her leadership during the opioid crisis by working with the Florida Legislature on various measures against drug abuse and human trafficking.

“General Bondi is exceedingly well prepared to be the 87th United States Attorney General,” the letter stated further. “She will bring to the office a unique combination of civil and criminal experience and a tenacious work ethic.”

Attorneys general from states including Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Idaho among others joined in support through this letter.
