Pam Bondi backed by attorney generals for U.S. Attorney General role

Attorney General Steve Marshall has expressed strong support for Pam Bondi's appointment as the next United States Attorney General. In a statement, he praised President Trump's decision, saying, "President Trump made an incredibly wise decision by appointing Pam Bondi as the next United States Attorney General. I have known Pam for a long time, and she possesses the heart of a prosecutor. She will boldly enforce the rule of law and will restore the public’s confidence in the Department of Justice."

A coalition led by South Carolina and Florida is urging Senate leaders to confirm Bondi's nomination. In a letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Minority Whip John Thune, they wrote: “Many of us have worked with Attorney General Bondi, and we have witnessed firsthand her legal acumen, her passion for justice, and her steadfast commitment to the rule of law. And equally as important, we have found her to be fair-minded, impartial, and collegial. In short, she is a superb choice to serve our nation and the public interest.”

The coalition highlighted Bondi's achievements during her tenure as Florida Attorney General. The letter stated that during the opioid crisis she showed leadership by collaborating with the Florida Legislature to shut down pill mills and initiating litigation against those responsible for drug abuse. Additionally, she was recognized for her advocacy against human trafficking.

The letter continued: “General Bondi is exceedingly well prepared to be the 87th United States Attorney General. She will bring to the office a unique combination of civil and criminal experience and a tenacious work ethic. Most importantly, she will bring a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the rule of law.”

Attorneys general from Alabama along with those from 26 other states including Arkansas, Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska New Hampshire North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Pennsylvania South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Virginia West Virginia Wyoming also joined in supporting Bondi's confirmation.
