Fox Rothschild congratulates our Greensboro and Charlotte Office Managing Partners, Richard A. Coughlin and Jeffrey P. MacHarg, who were featured on North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Managing Partners to Watch list.
This annual feature spotlights “lawyers who are equal parts administrative genius and skilled legal practitioner.”
Coughlin has served as Office Managing Partner of the Greensboro office since 2021. He has made “strategic mergers and the targeted recruitment of skilled lawyers” a priority and the office is now Fox’s largest in the Carolinas.
Under Coughlin’s leadership, the Greensboro office pledged $100,000 to support a Cone Health mobile health unit that will provide essential medical services to underserved communities in North Carolina. The sponsorship supports the mobile health fleet initiative established by UNC Greensboro School of Nursing and Cone Health. The donation, a combined contribution from Fox attorneys and the firm, will enable a mobile health unit to reach a greater number of individuals in need.
In addition to his work with the office, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly also highlighted his role as the firm’s Deputy General Counsel. In this position, he advises attorneys on risk management, ethics and compliance and works to proactively resolve conflicts involving remote work, privacy, information security, artificial intelligence, labor and employment and more.
This is MacHarg’s second consecutive year on the Managing Partners to Watch list. Since 2021, he has “more than doubled the number of attorneys” in the Charlotte office.
Most recently, he facilitated the office moving into the heart of Charlotte’s central business district. He worked with firm leadership to creatively use the “space to keep the firm poised for future growth.”
Of the move, he said, “this forward-thinking space is designed to reflect the history and culture of Charlotte. It provides innovative meeting areas and implements best practices in office design to create an inviting workplace that will benefit attorneys, staff and clients.”
Named by BTI Consulting as a Client Service All-Star, MacHarg’s “colleagues are inspired by the passion he brings to his various roles.” The publication notes that he is “fully engaged and has made a significant impact on office life and its culture of inclusion, respect, client service and drive.”
