PitchBook ranks Reed Smith among most active law firms in private equity transactions in nine categories for the third quarter of 2024

Global law firm Reed Smith has continued to operate as one of the most active law firms for private equity transactions, having posted standout results in the third quarter of 2024, according to research and analysis firm PitchBook’s Global league tables: Q3 2024.

The firm ranked within the top 25 global firms in several private equity categories (measured by deal count), including the following:

• By Representing Investors: Most active globally and in the United States
• By General Geography: Most active in the United States
• By U.S. Jurisdiction: Most active in the Great Lakes, West Coast, Southeast and South
• By Sector: Most active in healthcare and business-to-consumer transactions.

“As predicted, the thawing of the dealmaking environment over the course of 2024 has resulted in a significant uptick in deal flow, which we expect to continue through the end of the year and into 2025,” said Chris Sheaffer, global vice-chair of Reed Smith’s Private Equity Group. “The performance of our global private equity practice in PitchBook and other league tables is evidence that our adaptive, strategic and focused approach to advising our PE fund clients and their portfolio companies is making real and significant inroads in the market.”
