On November 20, 2024, Nebraska's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Timothy Tesmer, revoked the licenses of Andrea Meisinger, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and registered nurse in Nebraska. Meisinger operated a business named AR Virtual Health that promoted GLP-1 medications like Tirzepatide and Semaglutide for weight loss through its website and social media platforms. She was fined $16,000 for prescribing to patients while her Nebraska licenses were suspended and for authorizing prescriptions in states where she lacked the necessary licensure.

This action followed a petition filed on November 5 by the Nebraska Attorney General's Office seeking disciplinary measures against Meisinger. The petition accused her of "immoral or dishonorable conduct," practicing fraudulently beyond authorized scope, incompetence or negligence, and unprofessional conduct including obtaining fees through fraud or misrepresentation.

Earlier in May 2024, the Attorney General's Office had alleged that Meisinger attempted to sell Tirzepatide without establishing patient/provider relationships. Consequently, she was fined $3,000 and placed on probation for a year with her licenses suspended. She was prohibited from engaging in any APRN or nursing activities.

Findings by the Chief Medical Officer revealed that Meisinger provided prescriptions to a Georgia patient without holding licensure there and cared for an Illinois patient similarly unlicensed. She held virtual appointments with a Nebraska patient during her license suspension and prescribed medications across several states without proper licensure. Additionally, she shipped medications to her own address or that of a coworker/friend and authorized numerous prescriptions to Nebraska patients while her license was suspended.

The case was prosecuted by the Nebraska Attorney General's Office with investigations conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services.
