The Texas Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Attorney General Ken Paxton, allowing the end of a prolonged legal battle with former employees. The court conditionally granted the Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) petition for a writ of mandamus, directing the Travis County District Court to cease requiring senior OAG officials to undergo depositions in a case lacking pending factual disputes.

Attorney General Paxton had initially opted to conclude the litigation in January 2024 by permitting the trial court to issue a final judgment without contesting what he described as "baseless claims." However, the judge continued the proceedings, allegedly violating Texas court rules and extending what was termed a "political charade," impacting the OAG's operations.

The OAG appealed to the Third Court of Appeals before seeking intervention from the Texas Supreme Court to halt what it called politically motivated litigation.
