Attorney General Michelle Henry has joined a bipartisan group of 46 Attorneys General urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to enhance its Robocall Mitigation Database. The coalition seeks to address a loophole that allows bad actors to reach Pennsylvanians with unsolicited calls and messages.

"Every day, Pennsylvanians are being inundated with spam robocalls and text messages," said Attorney General Henry. "We have made it clear that robocalls are not welcome here, and I am proud to stand with my colleagues in this coalition to announce an important action in the fight against illegal, nuisance robocalls."

The FCC's database, launched in 2021, requires voice service providers to register. However, the lack of ongoing maintenance has allowed companies to submit unchecked information without facing consequences for inaccuracies or omissions.

The Attorneys General propose that the FCC impose stricter scrutiny on provider submissions and enforce deadlines. These measures aim to prevent unauthorized access to the U.S. telephone network by bad actors.

Attorney General Henry is part of the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force and is dedicated to investigating and prosecuting those responsible for illegal robocalls.

A copy of the letter sent by the coalition is available for public viewing.
