Fox Rothschild congratulates Dianna G. El Hioum, who is among 10 women recognized by the New York Business Journal on its 2024 “Women of Influence” list.

The feature highlights women from a cross section of industries in New York City “who are impacting those around them both professionally and personally.”

As Fox’s Chief Growth Strategist, El Hioum leads the firm’s efforts to expand its reach through strategic lateral acquisitions in key markets. Her approach to growth is rooted in identifying the right talent who will thrive in the firm’s entrepreneurial culture. When asked what attributes she looks for in a candidate, she told the New York Law Journal a key component is synergy.

“I am always on the lookout for attorneys who have established practices that can flourish on Fox Rothschild’s national platform,” she said. “Can we cross-sell their services to our existing clients? Will their clients want or need the services of our other attorneys? If the answer is yes, it is just a question of culture and personality.”

A former chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, El Hioum has been a driving force behind the team’s growth and professional development.

“In recent years, I helped develop an incubator program within the IP department where junior attorneys meet with senior partners to discuss how to grow their practices and develop concrete action plans. As a mentor, I believe it is important to meet in-person. I also stress the importance of listening to what others say and making sure those people feel heard. No one has ever complained someone was too good a listener,” she said.

In her legal practice, El Hioum focuses on global patent prosecution, licensing and opinion work. With a background in biotechnology, chemistry and large-scale drug manufacturing, she understands the development of drugs and medical devices — from early-stage research and patenting to FDA approval, production and marketing. She also handles patent work for the shooting sports industry, with extensive experience in firearm mechanisms, components and ammunition.
