On July 1, 2015, Maryland will implement a new uniform subpoena form that will be used statewide. This initiative by the Judiciary aims to streamline the process for attorneys who previously had to visit courthouses to obtain subpoena forms.
The development of this uniform subpoena follows the adoption of rules by the Court of Appeals under Maryland Rule 2-510, 3-510, 4-265, and 4-266. The form is designed for use in both Circuit Courts and District Courts across the state. Each printed subpoena will feature the seal and Clerk’s signature of the relevant jurisdiction.
Attorneys registered for e-filing can access these forms electronically via the Judiciary’s e-filing portal at https://maryland.tylertech.cloud. Those not yet registered can sign up through this portal to gain access. Importantly, attorneys do not need to be users of MDEC (Maryland Electronic Courts) to utilize this service. Individuals representing themselves in court can still obtain paper forms directly from their local courthouse.
