The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the conviction of a man found guilty of capital murder for hire in Mobile County. The case involved Brent Allen, who was shot and killed outside his home in Satsuma, Alabama, on December 6, 2020.

According to trial evidence, the convicted individual believed that Allen had raped his wife when she was thirteen. He hired a private investigator to locate Allen and then recruited his uncle to carry out the murder. The hit man was provided with a silencer-equipped rifle, ammunition, masks for disguise, and a bullet-proof vest.

The case was solved by investigators within ten days of the murder. Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood’s office successfully prosecuted the case, leading to a guilty verdict. The convicted man received a life sentence without parole but sought an appeal to reverse his conviction.

The Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Division represented the state during the appeals process. They argued for affirming the conviction before the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. On September 20, 2024, the court confirmed Hill's convictions.

Attorney General Marshall praised Assistant Attorney General Christopher D. Howell for his work on this case and thanked District Attorney Keith Blackwood and his staff for their assistance in defending the conviction.
