A Wilmington man has admitted guilt in the murder of Bruce Wright, a case dating back to 2022. On April 22, 2024, Marcus Bailey, aged 20, entered a guilty plea for Murder Second Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony at Kent County Superior Court. This plea is the result of an investigation into Wright's shooting during a drug transaction in Dover, Delaware. As part of his sentencing agreement, Bailey will not seek less than 20 years in prison while the State has agreed to recommend no more than 30 years.
Attorney General Kathy Jennings expressed gratitude for the efforts made by prosecutors and law enforcement. "I am thankful to our prosecutors and the Delaware State Police for their excellent work in this case- may it bring peace to the victim’s family," Jennings stated. She further emphasized the ongoing commitment to combat gun crime and ensure accountability for offenders.
The incident occurred on March 24, 2022, when Marcus Bailey met Bruce Wright in his parked car near Capital Park housing development for a marijuana purchase. During this encounter, Bailey refused payment and fatally shot Wright before fleeing with the drugs.
