In a statement issued on November 7, 2024, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum expressed confidence in Oregon's newly elected Attorney General, Dan Rayfield. She emphasized the importance of protecting Oregonians from potential federal overreach.

Rosenblum highlighted past efforts since 2017, where she and her colleagues challenged actions by the Trump administration that they deemed illegal and unconstitutional. She stated, “Beginning in 2017, many of my AG colleagues and I successfully challenged the first Trump administration’s numerous illegal and unconstitutional efforts to undo Americans’ rights and freedoms."

Reflecting on the recent election results, Rosenblum voiced her belief that Rayfield will continue these efforts. "I am grateful and confident that Oregon Attorney General-elect Dan Rayfield and his state AG colleagues will continue to hold the line against any federal government overreach that harms Oregonians," she said.

She underscored the ongoing role of Attorneys General in maintaining environmental standards, protecting immigrant communities, and defending reproductive rights. Rosenblum encouraged Rayfield to utilize his legal resources effectively: “I hope our new AG, when he takes office in January, will take full advantage of his legal ‘toolkit’ and the skilled professional lawyers and staff at the Oregon Department of Justice to push back against violations of law that threaten the rights and undermine the values of Oregonians.”

Rosenblum concluded with a call for unity in addressing future challenges: “Together, we need to be prepared to meet the challenges and protect what matters most to Americans.”
