As Veterans Day nears, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is urging service members, veterans, and their families to engage in two complimentary webinars. These sessions aim to educate attendees on how to shield themselves from scams targeting veterans and provide insights into the resources and assistance available through Raoul's office.
"This Veterans Day, my office will honor all who have selflessly served this nation by making sure they know how to protect themselves from bad actors who target their benefits and providing free information about the benefits and services my office provides," stated Raoul. "I encourage current service members, veterans, and their families to join the webinars we are offering to stay up-to-date on any scams, benefits, and assistance related to their military service."
The first webinar, titled "What to Know About Veteran Consumer Scams," is scheduled for Thursday, November 7th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It will cover common scams aimed at veterans, how to identify them, and steps to take if one suspects they have encountered such frauds. The session is open not only to service members and veterans but also their families and advocacy organizations.
On Wednesday, November 13th from noon until 1 p.m., another webinar designed for veterans advocates and service organizations will be held. This session will feature discussions on Raoul’s Military and Veterans Rights bureau along with other related bureaus like Charitable Trusts, Disability Rights, and Public Access Counselor. Staff will share details on services offered that support the veteran community.
To participate in these events, registration via Zoom links is required. After registering, participants will receive login details.
