The National Law Journal shortlisted Reed Smith as a Community Impact Leader at its 2024 NLJ Legal Awards on Oct. 24 in Washington, D.C. The Community Impact Leader Award recognizes high-impact pro bono work and legal leadership in the Environmental, Social and corporate Governance (ESG) fields.
This is the third year in a row that Reed Smith has been similarly honored, having previously been named an ESG and Community Impact Leader Award winner in 2023, for which it also was shortlisted in 2022.
In 2024, Reed Smith was highlighted for its recent pro bono work, including:
- Achieving a landmark settlement with the ACLU of Minnesota in Goyette v. Minneapolis over police brutality against journalists during the protests over George Floyd’s murder in 2020.
- Establishing a Post-Dobbs Pro Bono Committee that assembles leading businesses and related organizations to argue that restrictions on maternal and reproductive health care harm the economy.
- Its ongoing, independent pro bono investigation in the case and conviction of Oklahoma death row inmate Richard Glossip, which was cited extensively in multiple amicus briefs filed in the U.S. Supreme Court.
