Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has once again teamed up with Sammy Terry, a well-known TV horror host, to encourage residents to search for unclaimed property. The initiative is part of a Halloween-themed campaign urging Hoosiers to visit IndianaUnclaimed.gov.

"Despite his scary reputation, Sammy is helping hardworking Hoosiers dig up treats, not tricks, this Halloween," said Attorney General Todd Rokita. "What’s yours is yours, and it belongs with you rather than with goblins, gremlins or the government."

Under Rokita's leadership, the Unclaimed Property Division returned $81 million to Indiana residents in 2023. However, there are still hundreds of millions left unclaimed.

Sammy Terry features in a digital advertising campaign that invites Hoosiers to text SAMMY to 46220 and check for any unclaimed property under their name. "Go, my minions, to Indianaunclaimed.gov and hunt for any unclaimed pleasant nightmares just waiting to be claimed by you," he said. "Indiana Unclaimed returns well over $1 million every week to Hoosiers across the state. It’s easy, quick and free to search!"

Unclaimed property includes financial assets such as wages, money orders, safety deposit box contents, savings accounts, refunds, and overpayments that have been inactive for an extended period.

The Attorney General's office conducts outreach efforts to find rightful owners or heirs. Individuals and businesses have 25 years to claim reported money.

For questions regarding unclaimed property, contact the Attorney General’s Unclaimed Property Division at 1-866-462-5246 or [email protected].
