Attorney General Michelle Henry has initiated legal proceedings against Jason Michael Fullmer, a chiropractor based in Mechanicsburg. The lawsuit accuses Fullmer of misleading patients regarding insurance coverage for chiropractic services, resulting in out-of-pocket expenses for many.
Fullmer, associated with Central PA Spinal Health Chiropractic, LLC, is alleged to have violated the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law and the Pennsylvania Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act. According to Attorney General Henry, "This chiropractor did a disservice to patients seeking care by either intentionally misleading them about insurance coverage or neglecting to send their claims to their insurance providers." Patients reportedly faced significant bills and threats of debt collection if they failed to pay.
The lawsuit follows an investigation by the Office of Attorney General’s Healthcare Section after receiving multiple consumer complaints. These complaints claimed that Fullmer assured patients their insurance would cover chiropractic services but often did not file claims or provide necessary documentation for insurer payments.
Despite not submitting claims, Fullmer allegedly sought substantial payments directly from patients for services that should have been covered by insurance. Furthermore, he reportedly encouraged patients to lodge complaints against insurers with the Office of Attorney General, shifting blame onto the insurance companies.
Consumers who suspect they may be affected are urged to file a complaint with the Healthcare Section at www.attorneygeneral.gov. The case was filed in Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas by Deputy Attorneys General Molly K. Pohlhaus and Tyler W. Ritchie.
