Reports have emerged questioning the integrity of the DOJ and Special Counsel Smith’s investigation, with allegations that Smith’s team may be coordinating with Vice President Harris’ presidential campaign. These concerns have prompted AFL to file Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests seeking government phone records, communications, and calendar items from individuals working in Special Counsel Smith’s Office.
The organization emphasizes the importance of retaining all relevant records for public accountability and transparency regarding the investigation into President Trump. AFL draws parallels to past incidents where members of Special Counsel Mueller’s team reportedly "wiped" their cellphones during an inquiry by the Inspector General into Crossfire Hurricane. Federal law mandates preserving all records related to such investigations, especially those under FOIA requests or legal proceedings.
