Attorney General Tim Griffin has issued a statement highlighting the role of his office’s Election Integrity Unit as early voting commences in Arkansas for the 2024 general election. "Throughout my time in public service, election integrity has been a top priority for me," Griffin stated. He noted that he established the Election Integrity Unit last year to support the existing Election Law Hotline, allowing citizens to report complaints. The unit is tasked with investigating these complaints and has the authority to initiate legal action against those who breach election laws.
Griffin encourages Arkansans to use the Election Law Hotline at (833) 995-8683 if they wish to report any potential violations of election law. In March 2023, Griffin founded the Election Integrity Unit under his office's Special Investigations Division, appointing Chief Wayne Bewley as its director. Subsequently, Act 544 of 2023 was enacted in April, officially establishing the unit and empowering the Attorney General's Office to pursue civil suits for offenses related to elections.
Tim Griffin assumed office as Arkansas's Attorney General on January 10, 2023. His prior roles include serving as Lieutenant Governor from 2015-2023 and representing Arkansas’s Second Congressional District from 2011-2015. He also holds a position in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps with over 28 years of service and currently commands the 2d Legal Operations Detachment in New Orleans.
Griffin's career includes various notable assignments such as serving as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas and working closely with President George W. Bush as Deputy Director of Political Affairs. His educational background includes degrees from Hendrix College, Tulane Law School, and a master's degree from the U.S. Army War College.
