Attorney General Kris Mayes has announced a plea deal in the Cochise County election interference case. Peggy Judd, the defendant, pleaded guilty to failing to canvass the election as required by law. This is classified as a Class 3 misdemeanor under the charge of Failure or Refusal to Perform Duty by an Election Officer.

"Any attempt to interfere with elections in Arizona will not be tolerated. My office will continue to pursue justice and ensure that anyone who undermines our electoral system is held accountable,” stated Attorney General Mayes. “Today's plea agreement and sentencing should serve as a strong reminder that I will not hesitate to use every tool available to uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of Arizona’s elections."

Judd's sentence includes unsupervised probation for at least 90 days and a maximum fine of $500. The signed plea agreement will be made available later today.
