Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum has issued a reminder to Oregonians that the deadline to register for the upcoming general election on November 5 is tonight, October 15, at 11:59 pm. Residents uncertain about their registration status can verify it through the Secretary of State’s website.
“Voting is both a duty and a right,” said AG Rosenblum. “We in Oregon are fortunate our vote-by-mail system is safe, secure, and convenient.”
In conjunction with this reminder, Rosenblum announced that the Oregon Department of Justice has activated its Voter Protection Hotline at 971-673-4111. The hotline will remain operational until after the election and aims to assist voters with non-emergency inquiries or concerns related to voting. Messages left on the hotline are reviewed regularly, with most calls returned within 24 hours during weekdays and on Mondays following weekends.
Rosenblum advises voters to use the hotline if they encounter or suspect any form of voter intimidation, whether at a voter drop box or elsewhere.
The DOJ has also provided a one-page document detailing information about the hotline and outlining how voting rights are safeguarded under state law. This includes prohibitions against harassing election workers, obstructing ballot drop-off locations, or participating in unlawful paramilitary activities.
For those planning to vote on Election Day itself, AG Rosenblum suggests using either an official ballot drop box or mailing ballots directly from a US Post Office. Ballots must be received or postmarked by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5. The Secretary of State provides a drop-box locator for finding official sites; however, checking with local county elections offices is recommended for the most current list.
