Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that his office will host an expungement clinic in Moorhead on Tuesday, October 15. The clinic aims to assist Minnesotans in reviewing their records and determining eligibility for expungement. If eligible, the office will help file the necessary paperwork to seal records.
The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Recovery Engaged Communities, located at 2900 5th St S, Moorhead, MN 56560. While RSVPs are encouraged for those interested in attending, the clinic will not be open to media members to respect attendees' privacy.
"Old, non-violent convictions should not stop folks who’ve turned over a new leaf from finding a place to live, getting a good job, or obtaining an education," said Attorney General Ellison. "I share the people of Minnesota’s belief in redemption, which is why my Office is hosting this expungement clinic."
To date, Ellison's statewide program has sealed the records of 900 Minnesotans. The upcoming event marks the tenth such clinic organized by his office within the past year across various locations including St. Paul and Duluth.
Ellison expressed gratitude towards partners like the Moorhead City Attorney’s Office and Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota for their collaboration on this initiative.
