Attorney General Tim Griffin has announced two key promotions within his office. Justin Brascher has been elevated to the role of Senior Assistant Attorney General for Intergovernmental Affairs. Brascher, who joined the Office of the Attorney General in January 2023, previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division, Special Litigation Section. In this capacity, he defended Arkansas in various lawsuits. Griffin noted that Brascher's experience and policy knowledge make him a valuable addition to the Intergovernmental Affairs team, where he will collaborate with lawmakers and elected officials on policy and legislation.
Laura Purvis has also been promoted to fill Brascher's previous position in the Special Litigation Section. Purvis began her career at the Office of the Attorney General immediately after graduating from law school and has contributed significantly to high-profile cases.
Griffin expressed satisfaction with these internal advancements, stating, "It is rewarding to see people on my team excel, grow and thrive, and I am excited to have Justin and Laura serve the people of Arkansas in these new roles."
Brascher's background includes serving as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Cowlitz County, Washington, a prosecutor in Bothell, Washington, and clerking at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington. He is an alumnus of both the University of Washington and its School of Law.
Purvis holds a law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law and a bachelor's degree in music from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Tim Griffin assumed office as Arkansas's 57th Attorney General on January 10, 2023. His career includes service as Lieutenant Governor from 2015-2023 and as a U.S. Representative for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District from 2011-2015. Additionally, Griffin serves as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps with over 28 years of service.
