The Tennessee Supreme Court has initiated a limited disaster plan for trial courts in the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Judicial Districts. This action follows severe flooding on September 26 and 27, 2024, caused by Hurricane Helene.

The court has extended mandatory deadlines by forty-five days under various Tennessee Rules of Procedure. This extension affects documents due in the affected districts from September 26 to November 12, 2024.

Additionally, statutes of limitations and repose set to expire during this period are now extended through November 12, 2024. Orders of protection and temporary injunctions that would have expired within these dates are also extended until November 12.

This order is based on Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 49, section 2, and the court's inherent authority. It comes after emergency declarations by Governor Bill Lee and the President of the United States for parts of Tennessee, including areas within these judicial districts.
