America First Legal (AFL) has initiated an investigation into the Biden-Harris White House and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) over their promotion of youth "gender-affirming" care. This term refers to medical interventions such as puberty blockers, sex hormones, and surgeries for transgender youth. The AFL claims these practices may cause irreversible harm to children and adolescents.

The investigation follows research by Children’s Health Defense (CHD), which suggests that NIH-funded studies indicate potential long-term harm from these treatments. According to records obtained by CHD, the NIH was aware of these risks.

Gene Hamilton, Executive Director of AFL, stated: "We are committed to exposing the intellectual and moral rot that is subjecting children to experimental procedures and medical treatments based on the mere belief–contrary to all of human history–that a human being can change their sex without any consequences."

Mary Holland, CEO of Children’s Health Defense, added: "Children’s Health Defense is happy to provide this FOIA information to AFL for further analysis and investigation. The public needs to understand fully the government’s policies on transgenderism, especially as it relates to children."

The CHD's findings highlight several points:

- There is scant evidence guiding clinical care for transgender youth.

- Existing studies have not examined long-term physiological impacts on transgender youth.

- Data on psychosocial outcomes for transgender youth receiving gender-affirming care is limited.

In response, AFL seeks communications between NIH leadership and the White House regarding potential harms associated with these treatments.
