Holland & Knight welcomes Rachel Gartner as a partner, resident in New York, representing clients in regulatory matters before the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Most recently, Ms. Gartner was counsel at McDermott Will & Emery.
Ms. Gartner has extensive experience providing strategic advice on food, dietary supplements, cosmetics and other FDA-regulated products, as well as related advertising and intellectual property matters to major corporations, mid-size companies, startups and other publicly traded and privately held businesses. She collaborates with companies at every step of the product development process to evaluate ingredients, formulations and assess potential risks based on current and emerging FDA policy.
Ms. Gartner represents clients that develop, manufacture and market a broad range of products, and she advises them as they navigate product classification, market entry and claims substantiation. Additionally, she works with food, health and wellness companies to ensure compliance with relevant federal and state marketing and advertising regulations, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) standards for substantiating marketing claims and requirements of the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Better Business Bureau.
"Rachel's addition to Holland & Knight will allow us to expand and diversify our FDA regulatory practice," said Rich Gold, leader of Holland & Knight's Public Policy & Regulation Group. "Rachel brings a robust practice particularly focused on food, dietary supplements and cosmetics, which will benefit several clients of the firm in those industries that we service in other areas."
"I am excited about the opportunity to be part of such a prominent and diverse team of regulatory lawyers," said Ms. Gartner. "The safety and efficacy of consumer products is under the microscope like never before. I look forward to using my experience in this area to guide Holland & Knight clients in such a critical area of their businesses."
Ms. Gartner earned her J.D./LL.M. degree from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and a B.A. degree from Purdue University. She is admitted to practice in New York and Illinois.
