Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that a jury has convicted the main supplier of a Luzerne County-based drug trafficking organization of several felonies. After a week-long trial, Stanley Sabatel was found guilty of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, and conspiracy to commit robbery.
The Office of Attorney General provided testimony indicating that Sabatel, 26, supplied mid-to upper-level street dealers with methamphetamine. Sabatel's bail was revoked following the verdict, and he was remanded to prison. Sentencing is scheduled for November 27.
“The jury heard testimony that this defendant was at the top of the chain of a methamphetamine trafficking operation distributing poison in neighborhoods throughout Luzerne County,” Attorney General Henry said. “This verdict is a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in our communities.”
The charges stemmed from a joint investigation by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and Pennsylvania State Police, with support from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Hazleton Police Department, and Butler Township Police Department. Sabatel and an accomplice regularly supplied pounds of methamphetamine to their organization.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michelle Hardik, Chief Deputy Attorney General Angela Sperrazza, and Deputy Attorney General Thomas Hogans.
