Attorney General Tim Griffin announced the arrest of Oscar Stilley, a resident of Crawford County, on charges of felony perjury related to voter registration. The arrest followed an investigation by the Election Integrity Unit in Griffin's office.

Griffin issued a statement explaining that Stilley had disclosed to the Arkansas Supreme Court that he registered to vote in Crawford County in July while still under supervised release for a prior felony conviction. According to Arkansas law, convicted felons are not eligible to vote until they have completed their sentences.

"While his arrest today had nothing to do with the substance of Mr. Stilley’s lawsuit, the facts that came out during the arguments in that case formed the basis for his arrest," Griffin said. "Mr. Stilley, a convicted felon, lied on his Arkansas Voter Registration Application. This is exactly the sort of crime that my Election Integrity Unit was created to combat."

Agents from Griffin's office, with assistance from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Stilley and charged him with one count of perjury, classified as a class C felony. Griffin commended his agents and thanked Kevin Holmes, Prosecuting Attorney for the 21st Judicial District, along with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for their cooperation.

The Arkansas Supreme Court referred information about Stilley's false voter registration to Holmes, who then forwarded it to Griffin's Election Integrity Unit for investigation. Following his arrest, Stilley was booked into Crawford County Jail.

Tim Griffin has served as Attorney General since January 10, 2023. His previous roles include Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas and representative for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District. He has also served extensively in various legal and military capacities within the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

Griffin holds degrees from Magnolia High School, Hendrix College in Conway, Tulane Law School in New Orleans, and earned a master’s degree from the U.S. Army War College.
