Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed supplemental motions in ongoing lawsuits against Travis County and Bexar County over unlawful voter registration programs. The move follows the discovery that a resident, deceased since 1980, received a voter registration application.
According to documents obtained by the Office of the Attorney General, Travis County mailed an unsolicited voter registration form on September 18 to a resident who passed away 44 years ago. The county reportedly relied on information from an unlawful contract with Civic Government Solutions, a vendor with partisan affiliations. The form urged the deceased recipient to register without verifying their eligibility.
In light of these findings, Attorney General Paxton has added supplemental motions to the lawsuits challenging the contracts between Travis and Bexar counties and Civic Government Solutions.
“These counties have already sought to avoid judicial review of their blatantly illegal election programs. Now, one of these programs sent a voter registration application to a resident who has been deceased for more than forty years,” said Attorney General Paxton. “These programs undermine election integrity and unequivocally must be stopped while litigation continues.”
The public is encouraged to report any suspected election violations or similar experiences via email at [email protected].
