Independent Investigations Division Investigating Fatal Collision in Howard County

The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in North Laurel, Howard County, Maryland, on Saturday, August 10, 2024.    

 During the preliminary investigation, the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) reported to the IID that a non-HCPD police cruiser from another jurisdiction had been observed traveling near the scene of the collision. At this time, the IID is working to confirm the law enforcement agency linked to the involved police cruiser. The preliminary HCPD investigation revealed that on August 10, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., a motorcycle collided into a flatbed truck entering the roadway in the area of the 9400- block of Washington Boulevard in North Laurel. Howard County Police and the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene of the crash. The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was pronounced dead on scene.
