The Vermont Legal Community Fighting Hunger Food Drive will commence its eighth annual event on Friday, September 6th, and run until Friday, September 20th. This year, the drive will again include a collection of diapers to support families experiencing diaper need. The initiative is spearheaded by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and involves the Vermont Foodbank, the Vermont Bar Association (VBA), and various law offices across the state.
Over the past seven years, this collective effort has raised more than $70,000 and collected over 12,000 food items and other nonperishable goods such as diapers. The Vermont Paralegal Organization (VPO) will co-host for its fourth consecutive year.
Attorney General Clark expressed his commitment to the cause: “I am proud to carry on the tradition of our food drive, which I have been a proud and active supporter of since its inception when I served as a coordinator,” he said. “Now for the second year, we will include diapers in our drive, as there is no government subsidy for families experiencing diaper need. Many households in our communities struggle with the rising cost of food and diapers and I urge our legal community to show their support by donating in this year’s drive.”
Participants are encouraged to host online fundraising pages and collect item donations. Further information can be found in Attorney General Clark’s Announcement Letter and Participation Form.
The AGO, VBA, VPO, and Vermont Foodbank are committed to supporting all Vermonters in need through this significant collaborative effort.
