Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce that Chambers Latin America has honored the firm’s San Juan, Puerto Rico office and attorneys Juan Felipe Santos and Sara E. Colón-Acevedo with band rankings in its 2025 guide.

“We’re thrilled to see our San Juan team and our standout attorneys, Juan and Sara, receive this recognition from Chambers Latin America,” said Firm Chair Kevin Lauri. “Juan and Sara bring incredible dedication and skill to their work every day. This acknowledgment is a testament to their hard work and the strong client relationships they’ve built. We’re proud to celebrate their achievements.”

Chambers Latin America recognizes firms and attorneys who embody excellence across the legal industry and provide the highest quality counsel across major practice areas. The recipients are determined through an evaluation of research conducted for the publication of the 2025 Latin America Chambers guide. Attorneys are then ranked based on their industry knowledge, counsel and client services.

Juan serves as both the managing principal and litigation manager of the firm’s San Juan office. He has successfully defended employers in litigation before federal and Puerto Rican courts, including jury trials. Juan handles every stage of federal and local labor and employment lawsuits and administrative matters, from individual charges and cases to broad-scale collective and class actions. His practice encompasses wage and hour disputes, employment discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, statutory leaves of absence, welfare benefits (ERISA), the Railway Labor Act, defamation, non-compete covenants and other employment-related torts.

Juan regularly provides legal advice to management on human resources compliance issues and policy matters spanning the entire employment life cycle, including the hiring, discipline, and termination of employees, the drafting of employment manuals and policies, and the development of strategies for effective liability mitigation. He also has experience advising companies establishing operations in Puerto Rico and conducting due diligence employment law audits.

Juan earned his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico Law School.

Sara is a principal in the firm’s San Juan office. Her practice focuses on employment discrimination, wage and hour counseling, and litigation on behalf of employers in Puerto Rican local and federal courts. She has extensive trial experience before both federal and local courts and administrative forums in Puerto Rico and has defended employers in collective wage and hour class actions.

In addition to her defense practice, Sara has more than 15 years of experience offering preventive advice to clients. This includes developing and revising policies and conducting seminars on various areas of employment law.

Sara earned her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico and her LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
