Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced the arrest of a Covington man for unlawfully obtaining over $17,000 in Medicaid benefits.

Veysel Yildiz, 55, of Highway 90 in Covington, was arrested for violating L.R.S. 14:70.9 Government Benefits Fraud.

AG Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation received a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health regarding an individual identified as Veysel Yildiz allegedly committing Medicaid Recipient Fraud. The complaint alleged that Yildiz underreported his income when he completed his application to receive Medicaid benefits.

After conducting a criminal investigation into the complaint and learning that Yildiz unlawfully received over $17,000 in Medicaid benefits, Special Agents secured an arrest warrant.

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Veysel Yildiz was placed under arrest and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison without incident.

No bond information is known at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
