WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - A Florida woman is suing after becoming ill from cucumbers that were allegedly contaminated with Salmonella.

Melissa Milligan filed a lawsuit July 10 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc., Bedner Growers, Inc., and John Does 1-10.

The plaintiff alleges that she contracted a Salmonella infection after consuming cucumbers distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales and grown by Bedner Growers.

The complaint states that these cucumbers were contaminated with Salmonella, leading to an outbreak affecting multiple states. Milligan seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for personal injuries resulting from the infection.

No deaths but 551 illnesses were attributed to the outbreak. Hospitalized were 155 people also, and the Centers for Disease Control states the outbreak, which also led to a recall, is over.

Jordan Chaikin of Chaikin Law Firm represents the plaintiff.
