Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced that Patrick Joseph Rohner, 58, was convicted of one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child by Possession of Sexually Exploitative Material (Child Pornography). The Possession of Sexually Exploitative Material is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Rohner was sentenced on July 25, 2024, by Washington County District Judge Kiley Stuchlik.

“Our ICAC investigators and prosecutors work hard to keep predators off the streets and to deliver justice for these tragically young victims,” said Attorney General Labrador.  “I’m grateful for the partnerships that have been built across the state and the awareness raised in our communities about these serious crimes targeting our children.”

In approximately June 2023, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received multiple CyberTips from Synchronoss Technologies indicating that files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) were being uploaded to their network from a phone number associated with Rohner. After obtaining search warrants, officers searched Rohner’s home and cell phone, locating over 800 files containing CSAM. Many of these files depicted minor females ranging from approximately infant/toddler age up to nine (9) years old. Some of these files depicted the female children engaged in sex acts with adult men.

The State recommended a ten-year imposed prison sentence.  Judge Stuchlik sentenced Rohner to ten years but suspended the sentence and placed Rohner on 5 years of supervised probation. Rohner was also ordered to pay a $5000 fine. He will now have to register as a sex offender pursuant to Idaho law. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Madison Allen.
