Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit arrests Lafayette man for child sex crimes

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit arrested a Lafayette man for sex crimes against children on July 18, 2024.

The suspect, 23-year-old Jaylen Jonte Mouton of Brookwood Circle in Lafayette, was arrested for violating:

1. Two counts of 14:81.1—Pornography Involving Juveniles - Production (Felony)

2. Four counts of 14:81—Indecent Behavior With Juveniles (Felony)

3. Two counts of 14:80—Carnal Knowledge Of A Juvenile (Felony)

The investigation began after agents received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

This arrest resulted from a joint investigation involving General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Mouton was located in Lafayette Parish and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive from Vermilion Parish, where the crimes occurred. He was then transported and booked into the Vermilion Correctional Center on the charges mentioned above.

The investigation is ongoing.
