Attorney General Josh Stein has issued a statement regarding House Bill 495, which is now awaiting the Governor's approval.
"Great news: a bill that will help protect North Carolina families from the scourge of fentanyl is headed to the Governor’s desk," Stein stated. He expressed gratitude towards the General Assembly for passing the legislation aimed at banning money laundering, as well as local, state, and federal law enforcement members of his Fentanyl Task Force for their contributions. Additionally, he acknowledged the efforts of lawyers in his office who worked on drafting the bill's language.
Stein emphasized that cracking down on money laundering would equip law enforcement and prosecutors with more tools to combat drug traffickers and dealers involved in distributing fentanyl.
