Attorney General Labrador has expressed satisfaction following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Chevron Deference doctrine. "I could not be more pleased to see this 40-year-old rule struck down," said Attorney General Labrador.
Labrador emphasized that Idaho, among other states, has experienced significant impacts due to what he describes as the "weaponization of an entire branch of our federal government." He criticized the Biden Administration's agencies for using the Chevron Deference doctrine to create and interpret rules, which he believes usurp Congress's legislative power.
"The Biden Administration’s agencies have attacked our state repeatedly using the Chevron Deference doctrine to create and interpret rules that usurp the power of Congress to write laws," Labrador stated. He further argued that many businesses, industries, and individuals have suffered unjustly under this doctrine.
Calling for a return to a balanced governmental structure, Labrador remarked, "It’s time our Republic was restored to the three equal branches of government originally intended, instead of an activist executive branch continuously undermining the legislative." He concluded by commending the Supreme Court's decision and expressing optimism about a re-balancing of power.
"I applaud this decision from the Supreme Court and look forward to the long overdue re-balance," said Attorney General Raúl Labrador.
