Attorney General Gentner Drummond praised Gov. Stitt for his signing last week of Senate Bill 2039, which establishes the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services Revolving Fund and ensures funding to domestic violence is distributed where the need is greatest.

Drummond said the measure will help combat the high number of domestic violence incidents across Oklahoma. The state averages 114 domestic homicide victims per year, which is among the highest in the nation.

“This bill will go far in enhancing the safety of victims and their families,” he said. “I appreciate the Governor and state Legislature for supporting domestic violence and sexual assault victims and helping us better address these horrific crimes.”

The new fund will direct an additional $10 million in grants from the Attorney General’s Office to certified domestic violence and sexual assault providers across the state. It also will help expand access to services for underserved populations.
