Hidalgo emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing elder abuse. "We must ensure that older adults are treated with dignity and respect," she stated. She also highlighted the need for communities to come together to support survivors and prevent further abuse.
The Department of Justice’s Elder Justice Initiative provides resources for those seeking help or wishing to report abuse. The National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life offers extensive resources for both professionals and members of the public, including survivors of elder abuse.
